Dr. Ajay Kumar IAS, IT Principal Secretary, said that efforts were on to launch forty G2C (Government to Citizen) services under the e-District programme through Akshaya centresPilot projects will be launched in Kannur and Palakkad districts soon.

The government has taken a decision to designate Akshaya centres as thefront-end for G2C services of all departments. FREES software developed by the National Informatics Centre is expected to help add new G2C servicesreal time. The project would be completed by March 2011.

Akshaya’s role has changed from being a facilitator of e-literacy programme to being a G2C provider. This puts a big responsibility on theshoulders of 2000 odd entrepreneurs who manage these centres across the state. The need to create a robust revenue model for the Akshaya network would benefit the government, the  entrepreneurs and citizens at thesame time.
