AABY - registration restricted to Coir Workers Welfare board members

The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), in association with the Comprehensive Health Insurance Agency of Kerala (Chiak), has launched AABY (Aam Admi Bima Yojana) in the State. 

Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana is a Social Security Scheme that provides insurance to the rural landless households.


Eligibility criteria

  • The members should be aged between 18 years completed and 59 years.

  • The member should normally be the head of the family or one earning member of the below poverty line family (BPL) or marginally above the poverty line under identified vocational group/rural landless household.

Akshaya centres act as the nodal agency for the registration of eligible citizens.


Supporting Documents

  • Ration Card

  • Extract from Birth Register

  • Extract from School Certificate

  • Voter’s List

  • Identity card issued by reputed employer/Government Department.

  • Unique Identification Card (Aadhaar Card)


Benefits Covered:

  • Natural Death- Rs.30,000/-

  • Accidental Death-Rs.75,000/-

  • Total permanent disability-Rs.75,000/- (loss of two eyes or two limbs or loss of one eye and one limb in accident)


  • Partial permanent disability- Rs.37,500/- (loss of one eye or one limb in an accident)

  • Scholarships- Available for two children studying in 9th to 12th standards. Each child will receive Rs.300/- per quarter
