Puramattom Village in Pathanamthitta District was untouched by the information technology (IT) wave before Akshaya Centre Vennikulam was set up at a village called Pattakala,Memala. KochannammaKurien zeal to take IT to her village convinced Akshaya, the SCA in Kerala that she could be an entrepreneur under the CSC Scheme.

The Akshaya CentreVennikulamPTA024 was opened up to a population of over 15,000 people (from Puramattom and surrounding villages). Prior to that, people had to walk miles to even get themselves clicked and the centre started functioning since 2011.
